PERSONAL MUSIC HISTORY

• 12 years piano lessons
• Began clarinet lessons at 9 years old, played into college
• Musician parents

BANDS/GROUPS I HAVE PLAYED OR AM PLAYING IN

• Played in Central Jr. High and Central High School Concert bands (clarinet) and Jazz Band (sax), Helena, Arkansas
• Played in the Mississippi State College for Women’s band, Columbus, MS
• Played in the University of Arkansas concert band, Fayetteville, AR
• After graduation, I did not play again until I retired in 2012
• Play with the Denton New Horizons Band* 2013 to present
• Play with the Dallas New Horizons Band* 2015 to present

CAREER/RETIREMENT HIGHLIGHTS

• Taught Spanish for 30 years
• During my teaching career, I took students to Europe and Mexico multiple times
• World Languages Coordinator for Lewisville I.S.D. for 8 years
• Chosen as one of 10 American administrators by the American Association of Teachers of French to travel to France for their Fellowship Program
• Chosen as one of 25 World Language Coordinators by the National Association of District Supervisors of Foreign Language to travel to China as part of the Chinese Bridge Delegation
• Currently enjoying getting back to my music through the New Horizons Band association*

FAMILY

• My parents are deceased.
• Been married to my husband, Michael, since 1980
• Have 1 stepdaughter and 2 step grandsons
• Have 2 cats

INTERESTS/HOBBIES

• I love to read and travel
• I enjoy getting back to my music

OTHER

• I am also involved in the Lewisville Area Retired School Personnel Association and the Texas Retired Teachers Association*
• I enjoy the people I’ve gotten to know in the New Horizons Bands*
